The Old Course, St Andrews was originally just a couple of golf holes with various people throughout the years extending it.
But don't run away with the idea that this is the greatest links in the world because it is not.
The game grew in popularity and by the 19th century it was part of the way of life for many local people, whether as players, caddies, ball makers or club makers. Old Tom Morris made the final adjustments to the course in the mid 1800’s to the layout it is now. The Old Course at St Andrews is considered the oldest golf course in the world and commonly known as 'The Home of Golf'. Since 1990, The Old Course has been the venue every 5 years. From the iconic Swilcan Bridge on the Old Course to Tom Morris's masterful architecture on the New Course, St Andrews Links has developed over 600 years.
